MTC Grief Focus on Recovery Grief is often unnoticed due to it being expressed as other feelings. Grief can be disguised as anger, isolation, resentment and host of other emotions and behaviors. The grieving process can last many years and be accompanied by physical ailments due to self deception of reality and non acceptance of life terms. With counseling the process can be much shorter, less painful, and most of all, you can make it a meaningful and positive personal growth experience. Seven steps of the grieving process: - Shock
- Denial
- Emotion
- Depression
- Despair
- Un-Building
- Acceptance
MTC Stress Reduction Stress is normally an outstanding part of being human. When faced with a stressful moment most of us, most of the time, excel in or overcome the situation. There is, obviously, a point when we allow the stress too much control over our lives. We can lose jobs, relationships, weight (loss or gain), stomach lining, and other negative consequences from not dealing with stress appropriately. When that happens, our bodies react in a very predictable systematic way, while our behaviors differ from each other. Stress Management is often a valuable part of Addiction Treatment. Many of us have turned to the bottle of alcohol or pills instead of naturally healing. Learning to deal with stress naturally is long term overall life improvement. Dealing with stress synthetically, changing body and brain chemicals unnaturally, is extremely short term, sometimes dangerous, sometimes deadly, and rarely ego enhancing or self esteem building.
